Ellie - Shuturp - What It Means To Be A Woman
In light of International Women’s Day on Sunday the 8th of March, I’ve asked some of the amazing women in my life to share what it’s like to be woman.
I’ll be highlighting a variety of women from different backgrounds, careers and beliefs to bring you a selection of just how awesome being a woman is.
I have loved @Shuturp’s quirky art from the moment I stumbled across her page many, many moons ago. (Also I own a couple of her tees 😍). I love that Ellie doesn't give a crap about what people think and she just produces the art SHE wants to put out into the world. Some may look at her work and think WTF? But you can obviously see that people LIVE for it because
#1 - check those followers out and
#2 - her stock is constantly selling out over and over again.
Not only do I love her art, I also admire her business mind and that she individually packs and stocks everything from her spare bedroom. No team, no huge warehouse...just her, her girlfriend and their lil dog Toast
What makes you feel empowered about being a woman?
I think the most empowering thing is the fact that i'm the boss haha.
I get to make all the decisions.. nobody tells me what to do..it feels pretty good 😉
What has been your most proudest moment in your life? Whether that be in your career or personal life.
I think right now is the proudest moment in my life...
I am in a great place physically and mentally and it's taken a lot for me to get here.
I have achieved many great things but none of that matters unless you feel good and I finally DO 😄
Why is it so important for women to support each other?
It's very important because we all go through similar things, whether it's body image, mental health, not feeling like we're good enough etc it's really important that we lift each other up and share the good as well as the bad so women don't feel alone in their emotions.
What's your go-to self care to feel like a queen?
When I feel like I need a self care day I will spend a very limited amount of time on my phone..
I will go to the beach with my dog and just take it all in and realize how lucky i am..
I will shave my legs because for some reason that makes me feel amazing HAH.. and i'll just give myself as much time as I need before getting back into whatever it is that I need to do 😄
